Alexis Enjoys Music and Excels Academically

Alexis is an active girl that loves playing basketball and hip hop dancing.
Alexis is a 16-year-old bi-racial active female that prefers playing basketball to a trip to the spa for a nail treatment!  She is not your average student academically, as her IQ exceeds most in her age category.  Academics are not a challenge for her, as she excels in most subjects. Because of Alexis' intellect, she sometimes needs redirecting in the classroom setting especially when she completes assignments quicker than her peers. Alexis plans to attend college after high school, and is interested in the field of forensics.

Like most teens, Alexis enjoys listening to music.  In fact, several people maintain that Alexis is very good at hip hop dancing.  She also enjoys poetry writing.  Despite past issues of grief, loss, and rejection, Alexis continues to be resilient, and willing to work through those issues with a caring, patient, loving family.  Alexis chooses to dress as a male, and expresses comfort in experiencing the world from a male's perspective.

A family that is willing to accept the call to, love, support, redirect, and help this teen to continue working through past and current issues is sure to have a "Diamond in the Rough" experience with Alexis.  In the end, Alexis' determination and resilience will prove to the right family that she is well worth the wait as she blossoms into the tenacious, successful young lady she is destined to be!

For additional information on Alexis, or other children in need of adoption, call the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services at 1 (800) 259-3428.  If you are interested in providing a safe and stable home for a child who needs one, please call today or visit www.dcfs.louisiana.gov.
